The Director of Vocational Affairs will take responsibility for development and evaluation of all vocational education programs, curriculums, policies and processes. The Director will ensure the Academy’s vocational programs conform to all national legislative requirements and accreditation standards.
Strategic Responsibilities:
• Drive the development of Vocational Affairs strategy, as well as annual business plans
• Develop Vocational Affairs policies and procedures, adhering to the overall business objectives of the client, ensuring they promote leading practices and excellence
• Develop and manage Vocational Affairs division’s budgets; monitor the performance of budgets and report to the Provost on a timely basis to ensure that divergences are addressed promptly
Operational Responsibilities:
• Act as an advisor to top management on vocational education related subject matter
• Plan, organize, and direct development of Vocational Education programs
• Oversee development of Our Client and SSDEC vocational education policies and standards covering areas such as facilities, students, trainers, verifiers, assessors, graduation, programs, previous learning recognition and accumulation of credits (RPL and CATS), and the articulation and credit transfer between vocational and academic programs, etc.
• Manage the Client’s role as an RNDC (Recognized National Development Committee) to develop and maintain the Q+NOSS (National Occupations Skills and Standards) for the SSDEC sector
• Lead the vocational programs development process within the Academy and the SSDEC Sector Center of Excellence (CoE)
• Utilize key outputs from Institutional Effectiveness, and identify relevant subject matter expertise (SMEs) requirements, and develop appropriate vocational education plans to meet targets
• Liaise with the Academy top management and work closely with SSDEC stakeholders and Centers of Excellence (CoE) to identify vocational programs requirements and streamline the development process
• Oversee development and maintenance of up-to-date vocational programs and curriculum database covering content, policies, version control and accreditation cycle (registration)
• Respond to ad hoc requests from SSDEC / industry stakeholders, and develop and deliver short term vocational training courses using in-house or third party trainers as required
• Oversee execution of vocational education assessment and internal verification process according to set policies and regulatory requirements
• Review and interpret national vocational education codes to ensure that program conforms to legislation and the relevant accreditation standards
• Establish the framework of criteria with which program assessors will evaluate and monitor program delivery, reach, effectiveness and impact
• Work collaboratively with partners across the whole SSDEC sector, and employers (government and semi-government entities)
• Ensure adherence to the Academy’s information security policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
• Ensure coordination with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Provost and top management
