The Dean of Faculty is responsible for the effective and efficient planning, leadership and operation of the faculty to ensure achieving the Academy’s vision and mission and delivering on the learning outcomes. The Dean is also directly responsible for the recruitment, retention and professional development of the our client and SSDEC schools’ faculty.
Strategic Responsibilities:
• Drive the development of Faculty strategy, as well as annual business plans
• Develop Faculty policies and procedures, adhering to the overall business objectives of the Academy, ensuring they promote leading practices and excellence
• Develop and manage Faculty’s budgets; monitor the performance of budgets and report to the Provost on a timely basis to ensure that divergences are addressed promptly
Operational Responsibilities:
• Act as an advisor to top management on faculty, programs, teaching, and faculty services related issues
• Work closely with the Provost and top management to lead the faculty in planning activities to further the Academy’s mission in teaching and research
• Provide effective planning, direction and operation of all faculty activities to ensure a professional working environment for faculty and trainers
• Lead the provision of educational programs through overseeing the delivery of academic and vocational programs
• Ensure the quality of education and continuously lead the efforts for programs enhancement in coordination with relevant program development team
• Responsible for the development and delivery of appropriate strategies for teaching, learning and assessment within the faculty
• Oversee the consulting and technical activities provided by faculty / trainers to the industry and external stakeholders to ensure highest quality services
• Lead the recruitment, development and performance of faculty members to ensure that they work towards the achievement of program objectives and the Academy’s mission and strategy
• Manage staffing recommendations to the Provost regarding appointments, renewals and promotions of faculty and admin staff, and work with Human Resources Division to on hiring, appointment, promotion and contract renewal processes
• Establish a collaborative culture in the areas of teaching and research to enhance the learning experience
• Appoint members of faculty and designate them to their respective positions in research centers, academic and vocational programs and ad hoc faculty committees
• Coordinate with Institutional Effectiveness on the development and implementation of suitable mechanisms to capture students, faculty, industry stakeholders feedback regularly, in order to continually enrich student learning environment and improve learning outcomes
• Work with the Marketing and Communications Division to identify and target key national and international markets and develop focused outreach strategies to represent and promote the interests of the faculty
• Ensure compliance of educational programs and faculty / trainers with Academy and regulators policies and standards
• Ensure adherence to the Academy’s information security policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
• Ensure coordination with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Provost and top management
