The Head of Design and Crafts will work with the VP Arts and Culture to develop, manage, and deliver the 29 kiosks on the expo site that will showcase artisan crafts collaborating with SMEs and relevant entities to showcase the diversity of UAE design and elevate heritage crafts and artisans in UAE and the region through design collaborations to ensure we deliver a truly exceptional Expo with a meaningful legacy.
Main responsibilites for this role include:
- Develop and present the Design and Crafts Kiosks strategy for Expo 2020 to be presented to the Leadership;
- Continuously develop and deliver artisan and design activities and content related to the design discipline to ensure a compelling cultural platform for Expo 2020 with a lasting legacy;
- Pro-actively champion the various artisan and design forms to the relevant stakeholders, to ensure it rallies their interest and translates into compelling experiences, initiatives and presentations to support the kiosks and the visitor experience at Expo 2020;
- Foster strong relationships and establish presence at 3rd party events to develop their role to help us deliver an on-site cultural footprint and mobilise stakeholders as delivery partners;
- Plan and execute the implementation of 29 kiosks across the site, collaborating with SMEs and relevant entities to showcase the diversity of UAE design;
- Conceptualising, organizing and implementing dynamic complementary activities, namely the delivery of collections, talks, awards, educational programmes and workshops, performances, exhibitions and publications.
- Plan the presentation of kiosk content as well as creating interpretive materials;
- Play an active role in the artisan and design community by developing and overseeing educational programs associated with the kiosk content;
- Establish artisan, design and crafts activities and content to ensure that Expo 2020 Dubai is a thought leadership and an innovation platform in the area of design;
- Prepare and manage the budget and delivery for the design initiatives;
