The Senior Manager, Broadcast Technology will be part of the Media Operations team that is responsible for planning and delivering all media facilities and services required for accredited media attending the Expo, and specifically, the broadcast operations: The Host Broadcaster scope requires the delivery of the overall broadcast plan, attracting and ensuring delivery to all accredited broadcasters both working on site and taking content for delivery remotely.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Oversee multiple technology initiatives focused on deploying the Expo 2020 Host Broadcaster operation and take a leadership role in accomplishing those tasks;
- Ensure delivery of the overall architecture of the broadcast plant, from the power requirements to all the technology required to construct studio and transmission systems;
- Oversee all engineering aspects of the deployment, from design, procurement, build, integration and documentation. This will include interaction between the Host Broadcaster and Expo and all other resources required to complete the job;
- Act as Expo 2020’s primary liaison with the Host Broadcaster and Broadcasters for defining the technical requirements for broadcast infrastructure & develop the specifications required for procurement or supplier to deliver these requirements;
- Oversee the implementation of all Host Broadcast/video systems including cameras, switchers, routers, audio/video processing equipment, consoles and intercom systems as well as knowledge and experience of broadcast-based IT technologies and workflows such as data routers, switches, servers and security protocols;
- Manage the facilitation needs of all broadcast media on-site to make sure their technology requirements are met;
- Jointly develop with the Broadcasters the technical requirements including but not limited to lighting, commentator positions, and camera platforms, technical facilities to ensure that all designs are pragmatic and cost effective for Broadcast Operations
- Assist the Head of Broadcast in preparing procedural frameworks for Broadcast Operations including procedures, processes, guidelines and responsibilities.
