Media Operations, a department within Communications, is responsible for providing all the services and facilities the accredited media need to do their jobs, both when on the Expo site and when working remotely. This includes all the planning and preparation in advance of the Event.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, TV news crew Producer/Director, the Manager, TV news crew camera operation, lighting, editor role will support the production of Expo 2020 video content for distribution and use by international media outlets in a technical capacity.
The Manager, TV news crew camera operation, lighting, editor will be a reputable, multi-skilled television professional with the ability to be the camera operator, provide appropriate film lighting set ups and edit content in order to optimise the exposure of the planning, delivery and news stories of Expo 2020 to global news outlets, while demonstrating superior technical skills.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Assist in the creative process and serve as a camera operator, lighting technician and editor of content to be shared with media and support internal initiatives and programmes;
- Align with the developed structure and schedule for producing and editing Expo 2020 video content to ensure consistency and style are maintained; encouraging innovation but always working within agreed structures;
- Review shooting scripts and raw material to create shot decision lists based on value and contribution to continuity and suitable coverage;
- Ability to maximise coverage from a single camera shoot with editing constraints in mind;
- Source and set up suitable camera and lighting equipment for different shooting scenarios whether on location or in an interior office or studio environment;
- Responsible for all video equipment and ability to perform operational and safety checks on all equipment;
- Deputise for the Senior Manager, TV news crew Producer/Director when required;
- Consult with departments, talent and presenters where appropriate and involving them accordingly in the editorial process.
