Job Purpose 

To promote, manage and improve the integration of Design and Construction, to deliver customer satisfaction throughout the project process and provide added value through technical excellence value engineering and risk minimization during the design process, and also mange/ oversee the production of drawing.

Strategic Roles and Responsibilities
• Participate & support Head of Projects, as and when required, in the development of design related policies and procedures framework that will allow the retail projects to effectively meet its objectives and targets, in line with the Group’s strategy and direction

Functional Roles and Responsibilities
• To understand the construction process thereby effectively delivering safe, imaginative, buildable solutions and challenge the design in order to minimize waste, maximize value and reduce risk.
• To integrate all design programs and functions into each project phase to facilitate the procurement and construction requirements.
• Supervise CAD Designers in the translation of specifications and requirements into tangible store layouts/ designs & implement processes for the production, control and ensure timely distribution of all design information as required at different project stages.
• Ensure that all significant design related risks are reviewed, registered, allocated to owners and that appropriate control measures are in place.
• To ensure regular progress reporting of the design, against programs covering design decision, coordination interfaces & required design approvals.
• Ensure design information is thoroughly reviewed for: buildability, relevant safety and maintainability, technical suitability and compliance with specified requirements before use.
• To manage the production and issue of working drawings and technical information and provide responses to contractor queries as appropriate.
• Undertake technical review of all design documents form consultants and establish ‘completeness’ of design information therein, determine design risks and the type and extent of any additional inputs required
• Establish required design deliverables. Interview and obtain fee quotations from external consultants to undertake defined design roles. Create a Design Responsibilities matrix
• Provide Project Manager with all necessary drawings, specifications, schedules & status of statutory & other approval, programmes, and methodology statements as necessary.
• Ensure information flow, including RFIs are maintained to all relevant parties and that comments / approvals are received and returned to document / query originator. Identify coordination package interfaces and ensure each party is amending their work as the design progresses.

People Management Roles and Responsibilities
• Guide and motivate subordinates to enhance performance and produce quality work, and ensure that they are continuously developed for higher level roles.

• Prepare performance evaluation and appraisal reports of direct reports to assess subordinates productivity and progress and identify training needs of team members to improve efficiency and ensure conformity with standard procedures and practices
