Job Purpose:
To diagnose illnesses, prescribe and administer treatment for injuries and diseases. To provide a continuous safe and effective curative health services within AMANA Accommodations in line with local rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
STRATEGIC
- Directs and coordinates the activities of nurses, medical assistants, First Aid providers, therapists and other medical staff.
- Follows-up the drugs management system in the area of his responsibility (hospital and camp health posts).
- Prepares reports for the management on death and disease statistics, workforce medical evaluations and medical status of individuals.
- Assists the Corporate Office with the selection of the medical provider and medical scheme for the staff private medical insurance.
- Keeps abreast with latest local rules and regulations to ensure compliance with the same.
- Establishes solid relationships with local health care providers (hospitals, clinics, etc.)in both public and private sectors.
OPERATIONAL
- Responsible for initiating the alert in case of any major medical emergency.
- Analyzes records, reports, test results and examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient.
- Monitors patients' condition and progress and re-evaluates treatments as necessary.
- Explains procedures and discusses test results and prescribed treatments with patients.
- Checks patients prescribed medicines when required and follows-up on their well-being.
- Follows-up with hospitals in the event where the patient is admitted.
- Refers patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary.
- Provides health related awareness to all employees working at AMANA and advises on issues related to diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Recommends preventive measures against seasonal illnesses.
- Prescribes/administers vaccination, and other specialized medical care as needed.
- Operates on patients to remove, repair or improve the functioning of diseased or injured body parts and systems (minor operations under local anesthesia).
- Collects, records, maintains and documents patient information, such as medical history, reports, examination results, treatments, etc.
- Reports medical leaves to the Personnel and Administration Manager on daily basis.
- Participates in the monthly labor committee meetings and provides advises and recommendations.
- Advises on the type of safety tools to be purchased for labors use (safety shoes,gloves, etc.)
- Conducts a general assessment report for existing caterers including standard cleaning, equipment arrangement, food quality and quantity and personal hygiene of the catering employees.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Actively participates in training sessions for medical employees based on the planned program and available budget.
- Provides first aid training programs in camps as well as at labor sites as and when needed.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management.
