Our client are a Transportation provider with a large presence in the Middle East. To support growth in their business they are looking for a VP - Freight in the Middle East office.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic inputs to the overall Corporate Commercial strategy including business development, portfolio growth, etc. in addition to inputs to the Marketing strategy including details on product design, advertising, pricing
- Lead and direct the effective and efficient management of the Freight business unit
- Full P&L responsibility, maximizing financial returns to client and its shareholders
- Provide strategic direction, operations management, and business development for all Freight business including train operations, terminal operations, intermodal facility operations and rolling stock management
- Ultimately ensuring safe, reliable and commercially sustainable bulk and container services
- Business growth, expansion, and identifying business development opportunities within the B2B space
- Oversees the Train Operations' manpower plans to ensure that hiring activities for crew job vacancies including drivers, captains, etc. are aligned with the plans
- Provide leadership and direction to ensure all company safety, health and environment objectives are met or exceeded in coordination with the HSE Department
- Ensures the integration of all network-related operations with network planning department including vehicle scheduling and availability and train slot planning
Core Competencies
- Contribute as a member of the Executive team to the overall management and direction of the company, to ensure that clear short, medium and longer-term goals and objectives are established, communicated and achieved to optimise business results and returns to shareholders
- Experience in suggesting and carrying out organizational structure changes for the Freight business unit to ensure that work is optimally organised, resources are optimally utilised and communication can take place in an efficient and effective manner
- Demonstrating career success with progressively increasing managerial responsibilities
Key Requirements
- University degree in Engineering, Transportation management or equivalent
- Minimum 20 years' experience in Industrial sectors
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the railroad industry
- MBA or equivalent post-graduate degree preferred
