Purpose and Scope
Programs and reports on a variety of Rig and Rigless petroleum engineering activities (well testing, well completion and workover, stimulation, wireline, sampling and production logging, etc.). Analyzes, interprets field data and carries out studies aimed at optimization of well performance and oil/gas recoveries. Conceptually designs well completion, artificial lift, workover and stimulation programs. Performs feasibility, conceptual or optimization studies of hydrocarbon production and process systems, product export and distribution system and water disposal and flare systems.
Develops and monitors implementation of rigless and/or rig operations (perforation, production logging, coiled tubing, stimulation, well testing, sampling, wireline) at oil, gas and water wells in assigned area. Includes
- liaising with concerned Operation and Drilling departments to obtain access to wells;
- Ensuring satisfactory completion of the program;.
- Reviews and checks invoices for work carried out by contractors.
Prepares drilling proposals and workover prognoses including guidelines for operations to be carried out. Includes:
- nominating workover candidates and determining sequences for workover activities;
- issuing workover objectives and guidelines;
- preparing drilling and workover as well as other operational reports and circulating to concerned team members, as required.
Supervises and witnesses logging operations and attends meetings with logging contractors to evaluate their performance.
Follows-up surface equipment performances test runs and prepares related technical evaluation reports.
Provides technical back-up and trouble shooting service to Field Operations as requested.
Prepares well completion program covering, completion operations sequence, completion and well testing fluids program, perforating program, simulation/treatment program, etc.
Participates in engineering project groups to ensure that surface and subsurface facilities design parameters are taken into account during Basic Engineering.
Performs optimization and feasibility studies of oil/gas and water process systems in liaison with other team members, drilling and production engineers.
Develops and performs process simulation models using proprietary software packages in order to maximize and optimize the performance efficiency and safety of new and existing process facilities.
Performs various technical and cost benefits analysis studies to enhance oil/gas recoveries.
Maintains a close working relationship with field staff to ensure that assigned tasks are carried out in the most efficient manner.
Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs including proposals to improve work quality and/or to optimize cost in the areas of horizontal drilling, well stimulation, perforation techniques and coiled tubing applications, etc
Keeps abreast of technological development in the field of reservoir engineering. Attends conferences, seminars and reviews technical periodicals.
Knows the Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility, and ensures that they are effectively implemented in his domain.
