GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide agreed support to Teachers in the delivery of class-wide planned learning activities.
• Work under the direct supervision of a Teacher to carry out planned learning activities with small groups or individual students.
• Work under the guidance of Teachers in the planning and implementation of work programmes to support students.
• Provide feedback to Teachers on students’ engagement during planned activities and
their achievement of the desired learning objectives.
• Support students to improve their mathematical and literacy skills through focused learning activities and more generally across the curriculum.
• Prepare and support the use of learning materials and ICT resources, and create visual displays, in accordance with the requirements of Teachers.
• Be aware of and support difference; promote and support the inclusion of students;
and ensure all students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
• Assist Teachers in encouraging acceptance and integration of students with special needs, or from different cultures and / or with different first languages.
• Promote and reinforce students’ self-esteem and independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement and self-reliance.
• Support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of students, including contributing ideas and suggestions to support planning, to meet their development needs.
• Understand and implement the school’s Child Protection procedures and comply with
legal responsibilities.
• Contribute to a purposeful learning environment, promote positive behaviour, and encourage students to interact and work co-operatively with others.
• Support Teachers in managing challenging student behaviour, acting when required in adherence with the relevant school policies and procedures.
• Supervise students at times other than during lessons according to the school’s duty
arrangements, including lunch and break duty.
• Support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of students, including contributing ideas and suggestions to support planning, to meet their development needs.
• Raise all concerns regarding the behaviour, progress or welfare / child protection of any learner with the appropriately identified person.
• Help organise and taking part in school events, marketing events, outings and activities, which may take place at weekends or in the evening.
• Perform any reasonable duties as requested by the Deputy Principal – Primary School, Academic Directors, Academic Heads and / or Phase Leaders.
• At all times carry out duties with due regard to the school’s policies and procedures, and in accordance with the Arbor School Staff Handbook.
• Take responsibility for own continuous professional development and participate fully in training and development opportunities identified by the school.
